Two Local Organizations Chosen as Beneficiaries for 2024 Community Table Dinner
Penn Yan, NY, April 1st, 2024 – The Community Table Committee is excited to announce that The Living Well and Our Town Rocks have been chosen as the beneficiaries for the highly anticipated 2024 Community Table Dinner fundraiser. The Committee felt that choosing both organizations to share the proceeds will have a larger impact on Yates County as a whole.

The Living Well is a community and grant-supported 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization providing emergency assistance for food, personal hygiene, and household cleaning necessities; utilities; referral services; peer support for loss and those living with cancer, and youth programming, located in Penn Yan.

Their youth engagement programs have expanded to include Imagination Station, a program for kids 3-5 years old who attend programming with their parents once a week, Learning Pods which enhance homeschooling kids ages 6-11, and Dream Catchers is an afterschool program for kids ages 10-14 that runs Monday, Wednesday and Friday in Penn Yan, and Tuesday and Thursday in Dundee.

“We are excited to be able to highlight the programming we do to provide food in our community,” said Sandi Perl, Executive Director of the Living Well. “We service Grab N Go meals 4 times a week and feed all the kids at our Dream Catchers afterschool programs”, she added.

Our Town Rocks was founded in 2010 by a group of community members who recognized a need for more support services in the area. Their mission is to preserve and improve the physical, social, and economic health of the Barrington, Starkey, and Dundee neighborhoods, to support neighborhood self-reliance, and enhance the quality of life for the 5,000+ residents through community-based problem solving, neighborhood-oriented services and public and private cooperation.

While organized by Our Town Rocks, there are 6 community groups that will benefit from this unique fundraiser. Team Charlie, Dundee Food Pantry, Dundee United Fund, Dundee Rotary, Dundee Fresh Grocery and Our Town Rocks will share equally in the benefits. This fundraiser will allow Team Charlie to add one or two new families to their extensive Christmas list, jump start the Dundee United Fund campaign, Dundee Food Pantry can offer extra food for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, Dundee Rotary can add to their Dundee Central School Scholarship Fund, Dundee Fresh Grocery can offer more fresh produce, and Our Town Rocks can add to their Touch of Christmas winterwear offerings.

Caryl Sutterby, Coordinator at Our Town Rocks, said “we are excited for the opportunity to share with all of Yates County the inspiring efforts of our volunteer organization as they strive each day to build community.
