Rainbow Junction Celebrates Mary Jo Covert’s 50 Years of Service
Penn Yan, New York — August 28, 2026 — The Board of Directors, staff, families, and children of Rainbow Junction are proud to celebrate an extraordinary milestone: Mary Jo Covert is marking 50 years of dedicated service to the center.
Mary Jo began her career at Rainbow Junction in 1976 and has spent the past five decades caring for children and becoming a valued and familiar part of the center’s community. Today, she continues to share her experience, warmth, and dedication as the Lead Teacher in the Yellow Room.
During her 50 years at the center, Mary Jo has touched the lives of countless children and families. She has been a consistent and caring presence through the many changes that have taken place over the years, helping provide the nurturing environment that families have come to know and trust.
“Fifty years of service is an incredible achievement, and we are so fortunate to have Mary Jo as part of our center,” said Dan Wickham, President of the Board of Directors. “Her dedication to children and families over the past five decades is something truly special, and we are incredibly grateful for everything she has contributed to our organization and our community.”
A milestone such as this represents far more than the passage of time. It represents 50 years of early mornings and busy days, countless smiles and hugs, important first steps and first words, and the many everyday moments that make working with children so meaningful. Through it all, Mary Jo has remained committed to the children in her care and to the center she has called home for half a century.
