On Saturday, May 30, the Dundee Library will host a community-wide event known as “Pedal Palooza.” This bike safety program will feature a brief presentation by the Yates County Sheriff’s Office, along with various games and activity stations, free helmets, and even free ice cream. “We’ve partnered with other local organizations and businesses to bring a great event to the youth of Dundee and Yates County,” says Dundee Library Director Dusty Baker. “We’re excited to offer a fun event that kicks off summer in an engaging, yet informative way.” The event is co-sponsored by Own Town Rocks and has received generous helmet donations for kids from Martin’s Bicycle and the Watkins Glen Walmart. Additionally, Mac’s Dairy Bar will be on-site providing free ice cream for every child who attends. Volunteers from the Yates Community Center will also be on-site assisting with the festivities.
In addition to the free giveaways, there will be a variety of activities for kids to enjoy. A bicycle skills course will be set up in the parking lot, giving participants a chance to practice their safety skills. Children can also decorate their helmets and bike wheels or create a custom license plate for their bikes. A “fuel station” with healthy snacks will help keep youngsters hydrated and energized.
Pedal Palooza will take place on Saturday, May 30, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the parking lot and backyard of the Dundee Library, located at 32 Water St., Dundee, NY.
