Lake Life Brewery in Penn Yan Celebrates Grand Opening at 111 Liberty
Lake Life Brewery a locally owned and operated brewery and tap house located on the street level of 111 Liberty in Penn Yan celebrated their grand opening October 22nd with the Yates County Chamber of Commerce and local patrons. Owners Michael and Karen Marshall welcomed the public to try their bold European style ales and handcrafted brick oven pizza.
The Marshall’s have been part of the Penn Yan Community for many years as Michael served in the Army at the 770th Engineer Company, a United States Army Reserve unit on Cornwell Street for almost 15 years. “We have watched the community grow over the years and wanted to be a part of an area that really cares about everyone that calls Penn Yan home,” Marshall commented. Michael’s wife Karen is a Keuka College Alumni.
“We started home brewing after accepting a challenge to brew the best Pumpkin Ale by some close friends. The Pumpkin Ale was such a big hit that we continued to brew as a hobby. Over the years, this hobby has inspired continued brewing curiosity, self-education, experimentation, and desire to grow. Michael joined the local brewing association and continued to brew the beers that those around him enjoyed. Finally, after persistent comments about taking the brewery to the next level, we built the business plan and started meeting with economic development groups to elevate our brewing hobby into a career, “said Marshall.
Lake Life Brewery is open seven days a week and offers a variety of European style beers such as a German Weiss, Czech Pilsner, and a variety of other popular styles. They also offer weekly events such as Trivia on Mondays and live music on select days of the week.
