Dundee Library Finds Success Raising Funds
Local Businesses and Community Foundation Help Library Surpass Fundraising Goal
DUNDEE, NY – November 18, 2025

On November 13 and 14, the Dundee Library participated in the annual FLX Gives event, hosted by the Community Foundation of Elmira-Corning and the Finger Lakes. The event is a 24-hour fundraising blitz that invites participation from nonprofits across the region. This year, the Dundee Library launched its “Step Up for the Stairs” campaign, setting a goal of raising $1,500 to install new carpeting in the library’s primary staircase. Not only did they meet the goal—they surpassed it, collecting a total of $2,098.
Library Director Dusty Baker led the campaign. “I’ve had great success with the event in the past with another area organization. Going into it, I knew a key factor to our success would be reaching out to our area businesses to lend support,” said Baker. The Dundee-area businesses did just that.
Wixson Honey was the largest contributor, donating $500 to be used as matching funds for what the library dubbed the “So Sweet Challenge.” Another matching challenge was created by the library’s own Board of Trustees, who together contributed $350. These two matches tripled every dollar donated as the 24 hours of giving began. Several early donations also helped build momentum for the campaign.
In addition to their success with FLX Gives, the library was recently awarded a $1,500 grant through the Community Foundation’s Keuka Area Fund. This fund supports organizations whose work demonstrates clear goals for strengthening individuals and communities in the areas of human services, arts and culture, education and youth, health, animal welfare, the environment, and civic affairs. According to Baker, the award will be used to expand the library’s programming offerings. “We’re excited to get more people into the library,” he said. “There are plenty of books going out the door, but we’d love to see more people spending a little more time within our walls.”
