A Penn Yan Native Brings Auto Wash Car Wash Home

Bobby Marchenese Opens Newest Location in His Hometown

PENN YAN, N.Y. — Some people leave their hometown. Bobby Marchenese, owner of Auto Wash, has chosen to invest in it.

Auto Wash Car Wash is now open in its newest location at 114 Lake Street in Penn Yan, bringing one of the region's favorite express car wash experiences to the center of Yates County. For Marchenese, it’s not just about expanding his business, it's personal.



Marchenese grew up in Penn Yan and has long been part of the community on a personal level. Now, he's making it official as a business owner too. "Growing up in Penn Yan leaves its mark in your heart," said Marchenese. "I have always enjoyed being part of this community on a personal level but have aspired to build a car wash here and be part of the business community as well. I look forward to working with our team here and putting our best foot forward every day."



Auto Wash has deep roots in the region. Bobby's father, Bob Marchenese, founded the company in 1981. Bobby took ownership of the original location on Route 332 in Canandaigua in 2008 and has since grown the brand to nine locations. He currently operates four, including two in Canandaigua, one in Geneseo, and now Penn Yan.

   

Auto Wash has built its reputation on more than just a clean car. The company's philosophy centers on caring for its people, its community, and the environment. Every wash begins with a hand-prep and visual inspection by friendly attendants; a step most express washes skip entirely. Auto Wash became a carbon-neutral company in 2021 and is a proud supporter of the Finger Lakes Land Trust, Canandaigua Lake Watershed Association, and Seneca Lake Pure Waters. The company also gives back through free wash events for teachers, veterans, and emergency workers — with more than 15,000 free washes donated to the community and counting. The grand opening was celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony on June 2nd, hosted in partnership with the Yates County Chamber of Commerce.
