THE STORY OF LAUNDRY DEPOT
Owner Chuck Hinkel began his entrepreneur journey 8.5-years ago when he purchased his first Laundry Depot location in Waterloo, NY, and over that time, the transformation of that Laundromat and the expansion of his Laundry Depot business has been amazing. With the addition of a second Laundry Depot location in Geneva, NY five years ago, Laundry Depot now draws customers from 32 different towns/villages throughout the Finger Lakes Region making Laundry Depot “The Laundromats of the Finger Lakes Region”.
In 2021 he launched a FREE pick-up and drop-off laundry service for Vacation Rental Properties. In 2021 Laundry Depot provided this linen & towel laundry service to 30 Vacation Rental Properties. It then grew to 170 Vacation Rental Properties in 2022, 310 properties in 2023, and then to 425 in properties in 2024 with still 100 properties on a waiting list for our Laundry Service!! Some of our current customers include Single Island Shores, The Lodge at Grist Iron Brewery, Lakeside Resort & Bistro, Plum Point Lodge, Showboat Hotel, The Spotted Sandpiper, Allstarr Cleaners, and Sunset of Seneca just to name a few.
Mr. Hinkel has focused on making the customers experience at Laundry Depot like no other. Both locations are super clean, have two attendants on duty from 9am to 5pm Monday through Friday, and have been completely renovated with new state-of-the-art Washers and Dryers that can do over 2,400lbs of Laundry per hour at each store. Both locations feature the first Debit/Credit Card payment systems on washers and dryers in the region that accepts Debit/Credit Cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and PayPal. In addition, that same cashless system has a Customer Loyalty Program, a one-of-a-kind program, which has given away over 6,500 FREE washes in FOUR years.
Most importantly, Laundry Depot has made it a priority to be a great community partner. From sponsoring Little League Baseball, Football, and Lacrosse teams, to passing out 100 FREE lunches when the COVID pandemic first hit in 2020, and in 2023 we raised over $15,000 for the Village of Waterloo Fire Department…..we try to give back as much as possible. To date, we’ve donated over $12,000.00 to 15 different charities in the Waterloo and Geneva communities.
All our hard work has paid off as our Waterloo Laundry Depot location has been a Seneca County Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year finalist twice (2022 & 2019) in the last six years including being awarded the Seneca County Chamber of Commerce 2019 Small Business of the Year!
In addition, this past November we were named the Best Laundromat in the Finger Lakes Region by FLX Finests for a 2nd year in a row (2023 & 2024)!!
