Description
We want to educate you about wine... come take some quick hour-long courses that range from beginner to exploratory! Pre-register for all 6 classes and get a deal, or pick and choose which you'd like to attend. Kyle will be instructing every other Tuesday evening at Water Street Wine Bar beginning in the end of January to answer all your wine questions (please bring them!) and let you explore your curiosity about wine!
Class #1 (1/21) - What's in a Price & Tasting Quality
Learn how to approach a glass of wine, how to taste quality in a wine, and look like a pro in front of your friends!
We'll taste a single style of wine from a single area (ie: California Cabernet) and compare quality and prices across a wide range!
Class #2 (2/4) - Wine & Food Pairing 101 (Additional $15 for Pairings)
Learn the basics in how food and wine interact for better and worse with 4 types of wine and 6 basic food qualities.
We'll taste and examine how these wines interact with our palate chemically and physically, while discussing why rules can be broken!
Class #3 (2/18) - White Wines for Winter
For this class, we'll explore some fuller-bodied white wines from around the world! Discover some new wines and see why we can still enjoy white wine in the winter time.
We'll also discuss why these wines pair well with some of the richer, comfort meals for the season.
Class #4 (3/3) - Reds of Italy: Part I
We begin the enormous undertaking of tasting our way through the popular red wines of Italy beginning up North and venturing our way Southward through our wine glasses.
For the first class we'll examine red wines of Veneto, Piemonte, and part of Tuscany; a discussion of climate and how latitude affects wine styles.
Class #5 (3/17) - Reds of Italy: Part II
We continue from Part I, finishing up red wines from Tuscany and Central Italy and moving south toward Puglia and Sicily.
In covering all this ground, we will continue discussing climate and how it affects wine style and flavors.
Class #6 (3/31) - Just Desserts: Naturally Sweet Wines
We round out our series tasting world-renowned styles of naturally sweet wines and talk about the processes on how these wines are made sweet.
Come with an open mind and taste these ideal dessert wines and learn about how to serve, pair, and drink these delicacies.
Each class costs $15 ($30 for the Class #2 on Feb. 4th), and does not include wine glasses; we ask that each student bring 3 of their own wine glasses. Please make sure your glasses are similar in shape and size and have a stem. If you would like to be provided glasses, we have them available upon request to purchase from our store.
