Description
Keuka College will mark Veterans Day Monday, Nov. 12, with a 4:30 p.m. ceremony in Norton Chapel.
Local veterans, their families, and friends are invited to join the College community in a ceremony honoring veterans who have served, or are serving, the country.
The program will include special recognition of all veterans in attendance, and will conclude in front of the chapel with a traditional color guard gun salute and the playing of “Taps” by members of the Penn Yan American Legion and VFW.
After the service, local veterans are invited to enjoy dinner at the Geiser Dining Commons, located in the College’s Dahlstrom Student Center. The first 50 veterans who register will receive their dinner compliments of AVI, the College’s food service provider. Additional veterans and all family members may purchase a meal at the door for $13.09 per person. Register by Nov. 5.
Photo submissions of veterans are also encouraged for special recognition during the ceremony. To recognize a veteran with local ties, email a digital photo of the veteran(s) to Associate Director of Alumni Relations Laurie Adams. Include the veteran’s name, branch of service, and rank (if known). Contributors should also include their name and relationship to the veteran. Submit photos by mail to Laurie Adams, Allardice Alumni Center, Keuka College, Keuka Park, N.Y. 14478. The deadline for including a veteran’s name in the program is Saturday, Oct. 27.
Those without photos can still be recognized during the presentation by name and branch of service in the Honor Roll listing.
Rides are available from the Penn Yan area to and from the College for the ceremony and dinner. Call Garth McKee at Townsend Wood Funeral Chapel at (315) 536-3391 by Friday, Nov. 5, to request transportation.
