Following an unprecedented series of storms and fires that ravaged the United States, many of us have been faced with questions about how to balance our lifestyles with the needs of the environment around us. Here in the Finger Lakes, our lives are shaped by a social history dictated by a tectonic and glacial landscape. In this talk, cultural anthropologist Dr. Michaela Kelly (Harvard University) will discuss the human and environmental convergence known as the Anthropocene – the Age of the Human. This talk provides a context for the remaining speakers in this year’s speaker series as we look at ways we can positively impact local soil, water, biodiversity and waste issues.
