The role of zoos has transformed from menageries that collected and displayed animals, to organizations that lead global efforts to conserve wildlife and wild places. Today, Seneca Park Zoo uses innovative programs that reconnect audiences with nature in Western NY and throughout the world to create a new generation of environmental stewards.  Seneca Park Zoo’s physical changes to habitats and guest experiences are easy to see, with 85 million dollars in capital investments being made over ten years. But just as impressive – and necessary -- is the repositioning of the Zoo as a conservation leader regionally and internationally. Pamela Reed Sanchez, zoo society executive director, and Tom Snyder, director of programming and conservation action, will discuss many of these transformations while sharing stories about dedicating your life to working in the zoo world.
