Description
We begin by gathering around for story time to read one of our favorites: You Be You by Linda Kranz. The book is about her famous rockfish Adri and expresses the themes of diversity, individuality, and acceptance to children. When Adri sets out to explore the ocean, he has no idea how colorful the world is. He quickly discovers that there are all kinds of fish in the deep blue sea—big and tiny, smooth and spiny, colorful and plain, different and the same. Join us and Adri as he travels the ever changing currents of the ocean and sees our diverse beautiful world! After we complete the book, we will move to the art tables and get creative with Watercolors to express our diversity and individuality through painting our very own fish! For the project we will use 12”x18” watercolor paper, oil pastels and watercolors. We encourage parents and caregivers to talk with our children during the workshop about the themes of the book and who we are as individuals. At the end of the workshop, we will pin up our art work as a class to view how we and our fish are all different and how together we create a beautiful world! Recommended for children ages 4-9. We encourage parents/caregivers to stay for this program and participate. For children 7 and older, drop off is allowed, please come early to fill out an emergency contact form. Registration is recommended, seats available on a first-come first-serve basis. Workshop price includes child and parent/caregiver, all supplies included. Discounts available for siblings, give us a call at 315-924-2400 or email claudia@refindflx.com
