St. Mark's Terrace Celebrates 50th Anniversary

In July, residents, staff, board members and community members gathered to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of St. Mark's Terrace Penn Yan.

The staff and board of directors planned a three day event that ended with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Jessica Bacher, President & CEO of the Yates County Chamber of Commerce and St. Marks Terrace board member welcomed the family of Reverend William Fitzpatrick back to Penn Yan. Rev. Fitzpatrick was the pastor at St. Marks Episcopal Church in 1972 and visionary for affordable senior housing in Penn Yan.
Jessica shared that "My Great-grandfather and Grandfather Bernie Volland Sr. And Jr. We're both on the board at the time of the creation of the terrace, and I'm honored to continue the efforts that her family started."

The Fitzpatrick family was in attendance and dedicated a refurbished photo of their father to be hung in the lobby of the terrace. The celebration continued with appetizers, wine and beer tastings from Vineyard View Winery and Climbing Bines along with musical entertainment by the talented Barbara Craig.  Deb Hafleigh, Executive Director, shared what an honor it is to provide such a wonderful asset to Penn Yan.
