About Us

Farming for Seven Generations
In the early 1800s, the Hunt family built their first house and barn on the western side of Keuka Lake. They planted the first vineyards on the farm – and some of these vines are still standing and producing grapes today. One relative started growing and breeding grapes commercially, sent the first shipment of grapes to New York City, and helped kick off the Finger Lakes ''grape boom'' in the 1850s.

Crafting Wine for 45 years (1981-2025)
In 1973, Art and Joyce Hunt took over the family farm. They expanded the vineyards but were almost immediately hit by the grape market crash in 1977. Always the innovators, Art and Joyce learned to make wine and helped pioneer farming practices to grow a wide variety of grapes in our cool New York climate. In 1981, they established the winery and helped create the Finger Lakes wine region that we know and love today. The winery was a founding and essential part of the Keuka Lake Wine Trail right up until its closure in 2025.

Building Community for a Lifetime
Today, Suzanne Hunt and Matt Kelly are stewarding the farm into the future. They were intimately involved with the winery and helped expand the business to include numerous ways for people to gather at our beautiful Finger Lakes home: yoga classes and retreats, stone wall building and other farm skill workshops, bird walks and pollinator classes, organizational retreats in a quiet country setting with locally prepared foods and outdoor activities. Suzanne and Matt are now continuing to expand the ways that the farm helps build and nurture community.
