About Us

Discover black walnuts, North America’s native walnut, at Black Squirrel Farms, the only licensed facility processing black walnuts in NYS! Stop by our farm stand and pick some up or take our guided black walnut tour and hear the unexpectedly fascinating story of a tree that doesn’t grow in the woods, how it fits into our landscape and how we get wild-grown walnuts from tree to table! Guided tours are outdoors and include a chance to crack and maple-glaze your own black walnuts. While the guided tour lasts 45 minutes, we suggest planning extra time to come early or stay late to enjoy unlimited access to the related self-guided activities set up around our site. No reservation is required to stop by and create a black walnut craft, make s'mores, learn to estimate the age of a tree, look at found things under a microscope, check out our native plant garden, play lawn games and more and if no supplies are required, it’s free.
