The reception for this show will be Friday\, October 11\, 5 - 7 p.m. Come to meet our artists and enjoy their work along with refreshments and wine from Keuka Springs Winery. Darryl Abraham is a painter and sculptor of rural life in the Finger Lakes. His work defies description kind of primitive\, kind of folk\, kind of na ve\; his art seems to be calling us to see the world around us. Darryl has exhibited in prestigious colleges and museums and has taught at many colleges and universities in New York State\, as well as having been a visiting artist at American National School in Israel. He works in many media including drawing\, sculpture\, tableaux\, and painting using unusual materials such as wood\, metal\, plastics and soil. Stephanie Marshall is a self-taught potter with twenty-three years of experimenting in clay. She describes her work as earthy and wants it to feel good in our hands. After her mother taught her some Chinese brush strokes\, she started to apply them to her pottery. The beautiful hills and valleys of the area are a never-ending source of inspiration. She continues to explore different ways of decorating her pots and for her\, the possibilities are endless. Close to twenty years ago\, Robin McCondichie returned to sharing her love of creative expression through teaching. Through this experience\, her commitment to her own work was rekindled. Nine years ago\, she emerged from isolation to begin showing the work of her creative search. The change from oil paint to soft pastel brought vitality to her art. Involvement in art groups expanded connections to other artists and leading to the founding of the Pastel Society of Western New York. At the core of Robin's work is a searching for the presence of light. She states that she makes a life\, not a living\, from art and she learns from each piece.
