DESCRIPTION:Telling Your Non-Profit's Story \n\n\n\nJim Townsend from SCORE Business Mentors\, will be our presenting speaker for the afternoon.   \nJames T. Townsend\, Esq. recently retired from his General Counsel position at the Adirondack Park Agency. Prior to that position\, he was managing partner at Remington\, Gifford & Williams\, a general practice firm located in Rochester. Mr. Townsend is a member of the NYSBA Committee on Professional Responsibility. He currently serves as Senior Advisor and Counsel to the Adirondack Landowners' Association and volunteers substantial time as an SBA-SCORE mentor to small businesses and non-profits such as Rochester City Ballet\, The High Falls Film Festival and The Salvation Army. \n\n\n\nHe has served on several boards of non-profits in Rochester including The Harley School\, The Salvation Army and the Monroe County Bar Association.  He currently serves on the board of The Adirondack Experience\, The Museum at Blue Mountain Lake\, The Adirondack Center for Loon Conservation\, and the Shingle Shanty Preserve and Research Station near Long Lake\, NY.  He advises Hinge Neighbors\, Inc.  and Rochester Ecological Partners\, Inc. and the Town of Johnsburg Community Development Corporation.\n\n \nThe following topics will be discussed:\n\n\n	Fundraising\n	Engaging the community/telling your story\n	 Recruiting new volunteers/members\n	Grant Opportunities \n\nAdditional topics may include:\n\nWhat makes non-profits different from other organizations?\n\nHow to be an effective Trustee/Director.
